Maintenance Plan WordPress Support
As part of our WordPress Maintenance plans, we provide additional assistance when you need it; we call these “support tasks”. Support tasks are separate to us performing regular maintenance activities on your WordPress site, such as performing daily updates, security scans and performance optimizations.
You can use support tasks when you need additional assistance with WordPress, or you have noticed a bug or error message.
Frequently Asked Questions
A support task refers to an additional service included in our WordPress Maintenance plans. While regular maintenance activities focus on essential updates, security, and performance, support tasks are dedicated to addressing specific issues or providing assistance when you need it.
These tasks can encompass a wide range of activities, such as troubleshooting and fixing bugs or errors on your WordPress site, resolving compatibility issues with plugins or themes, configuring website settings, and assisting with content updates or modifications.
When you open a ticket with us, it is generally considered a support task, aimed at addressing specific issues or providing assistance. Our team will prioritize and handle your ticket accordingly, dedicating time and expertise to resolve the matter effectively. However, if your ticket entails a basic question that can be quickly answered without substantial time investment, it may not be categorized as a formal support task. We understand that some inquiries may be straightforward, and we strive to provide prompt responses to help you navigate your WordPress site smoothly.
Support Tasks should ideally be used for issue resolution and bug fixes you may encounter, however we can also perform basic content updates and edits. Examples may include:
- 404 Errors: Investigating and resolving issues leading to “Page Not Found” errors, ensuring users can access the intended content.
- Plugin Issues: Assisting with malfunctioning plugins and ensuring proper compatibility and functionality.
- Theme Issues: Resolving problems with the WordPress theme to ensure the website’s appearance meets your expectations.
- Web Hosting Issues: Addressing hosting-related problems that may affect your website’s availability and performance.
- PHP Memory Issues: Optimizing PHP memory limits to prevent WordPress issues caused by insufficient memory.
- Locked out of WP-Admin: Assisting in regaining access to the WordPress admin area if you encounter login issues.
- SSL Certificate: Addressing SSL certificate-related concerns to ensure a secure and trustworthy website.
- WordPress Install & Setup: Install a fresh copy of WordPress (alongside any plugins and themes) to your web hosting environment.
- Plugin Install & Setup: Install a plugin to your WordPress website, and have it configured based on your requirements.
- Theme Install & Setup: Install a theme to your WordPress website, and have it configured based on your requirements.
- Web Hosting Configuration: Make changes to your web hosting configuration, including PHP settings, domain settings and more.
- SSL Certificate: Configure an SSL certificate for your WordPress website to ensure connections are secure.
- Import/Export Content: Import or export content within WordPress, such as posts, pages, images, plugin settings and more.
- Configure Backups: Configure a backup system that will automatically backup your WordPress website at regular intervals.
- Setup Contact Form: Create and configure a contact form that delivers notifications based on your requirements.
- Update WordPress Domain: Update the domain name that is used for your WordPress installation, and ensure all content shows correctly.
- WordPress Security: Review WordPress security and implement changes to secure and harden your WordPress website from attacks.
- Configure Redirects: Setup custom redirection rules that will redirect specific URL’s from one location to another.
Yes, we can certainly perform content updates to your website as part of our support tasks. Our team is ready to help you with simple content modifications, such as replacing images and text or adding a contact form.
These updates are aimed at ensuring your website stays current and relevant without overwhelming you with technical details. For more extensive changes or additional tasks beyond the support task timeframe included with your Maintenance Plan, we can provide you with customized solutions and discuss the options available to suit your needs.
Each of our WordPress maintenance plans includes a specific amount of dedicated support and content update time every month. Here’s a breakdown of the support time included in each plan:
- Standard Plan: Up to 30 minutes of support per month.
- Premium Plan: Up to 90 minutes of support per month.
- Business Plan: Up to 150 minutes of support per month.
- Complete Plan: Up to 240 minutes of support per month.
Please note that this allotted time is a monthly limit and does not roll over to the next month if unused. If your needs exceed the time included in your plan, additional support is available at a rate of $25 per 30-minute increment. This ensures that we can continue to provide timely and effective support to all our clients.
We understand that your support needs may vary from month to month. If you do not use all of your allocated support minutes in a given month, these minutes do not roll over to the next month. Each month, your support time is reset to the full amount according to your plan. This policy helps us maintain a high level of service and ensures that all our clients receive the support they need when they need it.
We encourage you to make the most of your support time each month, whether it’s for website updates, troubleshooting, or other assistance.
There are certain tasks that fall outside the scope of our support minutes. While we strive to be as helpful as possible within the time allocated to your plan, there are some services that require more extensive work and are not covered. These include:
-
Custom Development: This includes custom coding for plugins or themes. Developing unique functionalities or building custom plugins/themes requires a level of effort and expertise beyond regular support.
-
Major Design Work: Significant changes to the overall design of your website, such as redesigning layouts, creating new graphical elements, or altering your site’s core visual identity, are not covered under support minutes.
-
Extensive Content Creation: While we assist with content updates, creating extensive new content, such as writing blog posts, designing complex graphics, or producing videos, is beyond the scope of standard support.
-
SEO and Marketing Strategies: Developing and implementing in-depth SEO and digital marketing strategies require specialized skills and are not included in the support minutes.
-
Large-Scale Integrations: Integrating complex third-party services or systems that require extensive customization or troubleshooting is not covered.
-
Data Migration: Significant data migration tasks, especially those involving complex databases or large volumes of data, are not included.
Our support minutes are ideal for regular maintenance tasks, minor tweaks, and standard content updates. For services that fall outside these parameters, we can offer these as separate, paid projects. Feel free to contact us for a consultation and quote if you require these more extensive services.

Updating WordPress to the latest version is crucial for several reasons:
- Security: One of the most important reasons to update WordPress is to ensure that your website is protected from security vulnerabilities.
- Bug Fixes: With each new version of WordPress, bug fixes are implemented to improve the platform’s functionality and fix issues.
- Compatibility: WordPress updates are not limited to the core system but also include plugins and themes. Plugins and themes developers also update their products to ensure compatibility with the latest version of WordPress.
- New Features: WordPress updates introduce new features and functionalities, which can enhance the user experience, add new capabilities, and make managing your website easier.
- Support: When a new version of WordPress is released, support for the previous version is gradually phased out, and fewer bug fixes and security updates are provided.
As part of our Maintenance plans, we will automatically update WordPress on your behalf. Before the update is performed, a backup will be taken and then the update process will commence.
WordPress themes and plugins are essential components that add functionality and design to your website. They help you customize your website to meet your specific needs and make your site look more professional. However, failing to update your WordPress themes and plugins can expose your website to several issues. Here’s why it’s important to keep them updated:
- Security: WordPress themes and plugins are vulnerable to security threats, and cybercriminals often exploit these vulnerabilities to attack websites.
- Bug Fixes: Like any other software, themes and plugins have bugs that can affect their functionality. These bugs can cause your website to break, slow down or malfunction.
- Compatibility: WordPress themes and plugins are often updated to ensure compatibility with the latest version of WordPress.
- New Features: Theme and plugin developers release updates with new features and functionalities that can enhance your website’s functionality and user experience.
- Support: Developers often provide support for their themes and plugins to help users solve any issues they encounter. However, they usually only offer support for the latest version of their products.
As part of our Maintenance plans, we will automatically update WordPress themes and plugins on your behalf. Before the update is performed, a backup will be taken and then the update process will commence.
We typically run the update process once per week on a Sunday, however depending on the urgency of updates and new vulnerabilities, we may perform updates more regularly.
WordPress is vulnerable to security threats, system failures, and human error, which can cause data loss or website downtime. Therefore, it is critical to regularly backup your WordPress website.
As part of our maintenance plans, we will perform a full backup of your WordPress files and database on a regular schedule. You will not need to do anything manually, nor trigger anything on your end – the process is entirely automatic.
Our backups are incremental, meaning we backup any and all changes from the past 24 hours. Depending on the plan you choose, the frequency in which we perform backups is the following:
- Basic Plan – Full backup of files and database every 7 days
- Standard Plan – Full backup of files and database every 24 hours
- Premium Plan – Full backup of files and database every 24 hours
- Business Plan – Full backup of files and database every 1 hour
As an optional upgrade, you can increase the frequency of backups to realtime, meaning we will backup any and all changes immediately as they happen. This is ideal for high traffic WordPress websites with regular content updates, and e-commerce stores.
All backups have a retention of 90 days, meaning we will hold on to backups for the last 90 day rolling period.
If you need to restore from a backup, you simply need to raise a support ticket with us and we will action your request as soon as possible.
We will perform a daily Performance check of your WordPress website. This involves running a browser simulation of what an end user experiences when visiting your website. Several metrics are then obtained and recorded which will be sent to you on a monthly basis as part of a client report.
Should we notice any drastic changes during a typical month, we will alert you to those changes and offer guidance and suggestions.
To make sure your website is safe and secure for both you, your business/brand and your visitors, keeping your WordPress secure is very important.
Each day, we will run a performance scan against your WordPress site which will detect any vulnerabilities that might be present. For example, a plugin you have installed may have been compromised depending on a specific version of the plugin. If an update has not been performed on the plugin, it will leave your WordPress website vulnerable.
We are automatically alerted to any issues that might come up, and will take a proactive approach to resolving the issue.
WordPress now powers over 40+% of websites on the internet, so there is no surprise there are many possible vulnerabilities that could impact your website.
As part of our Maintenance service, we will regularly scan all of the files and folders of your website on the hunt for files that don’t look legitimate. As soon as compromised files and folders are detected, WP Tango will be alerted immediately and begin work on fixing the issue.
We include an advanced firewall which is incredibly lightweight and does not cause a performance impact to your WordPress site.
Some of the functions of the firewall include;
- Block malicious requests: The firewall will examine each incoming request and compare it against a set of rules to determine whether it is legitimate or not. If it finds a request that violates these rules, it will block it and prevent it from reaching the website.
- Limit login attempts: The firewall can also limit the number of login attempts allowed from a single IP address within a specific time frame. This can prevent brute-force attacks where hackers try to guess a user’s login credentials.
- Block bad bots: The firewall can identify and block bad bots that are attempting to access your website. This can help reduce server load and prevent bots from scraping sensitive information.
- Monitor traffic: The firewall will monitor incoming traffic and log any suspicious activity. This can help identify potential security threats and take action to mitigate them.
We also scan for vulnerabilities as part of our Daily Security Scan, which will act in conjunction with the firewall to further protect your website.
In addition to our advanced firewall protection, we will also protect against bad bots and brute-force attempts
Since most WordPress websites follow the same login URL structure, bots can easily identify usernames, and then attempt to force a login by attempting hundreds, or thousands of password combinations.
Our bot and login protection will ensure only legitimate login attempts are made towards your WordPress site.
It’s important to ensure your website is operational and online, as otherwise you risk losing customers and delivering a bad end user experience.
Upon signing up to one of our maintenance plans, we will also add you to an advanced uptime monitoring platform. If your website becomes unavailable, you will be notified by email (and SMS upon request) with details on when the outage was detected.
In the majority of cases, downtime can be a result of your web hosting company or a poorly optimized hosting environment. If it is something we can help with within WordPress, we can jump in and help. If the issue is with your web host, you may need to contact them for further assistance.
Your WordPress website is hosted with a web host of some kind. This might be a shared web host, virtual private server, cloud server, dedicated server or something else.
Many WordPress issues are closely related to web hosting, whether it’s performance, configurations, limits and many other factors.
We offer web hosting support as part of our Maintenance plans. If an issue arises with WordPress which relates to a web hosting configuration, we will be able to make changes to your web host to get everything back to normal.
WordPress staging site is a replica of your live website where you can test changes, updates, and new features before making them live. Here are some benefits of having a WordPress staging site:
- Testing new features: A staging site allows you to test new features or plugins before installing them on your live site. This ensures that any issues or conflicts are identified and resolved before they affect your visitors.
- Testing theme changes: A staging site enables you to test new themes or make changes to your existing theme without affecting your live site. This way, you can make sure that your site looks and functions as expected before deploying the changes.
- Testing updates: Updates to WordPress core, themes, and plugins can sometimes cause compatibility issues. A staging site enables you to test updates before applying them to your live site.
- Security: A staging site also provides an extra layer of security as you can test security patches or updates without risking the security of your live site.
- Performance optimization: You can also use a staging site to test performance optimizations such as caching, minification, and other techniques to improve your site’s speed and loading times.
We provide access to a staging site for your WordPress website upon request. You can simply submit a request, and we will generate a fresh staging site for you.
SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) offers several benefits over PHP mail for email delivery in your WordPress site:
- Improved Deliverability: SMTP’s dedicated email servers enhance deliverability, avoiding spam filters and increasing inbox placement rates.
- Authentication and Security: SMTP supports encryption and authentication, ensuring secure email transmission and protecting sensitive information.
- Higher Sending Limits: SMTP services often provide larger sending limits, allowing you to send more emails without restrictions.
- Tracking and Logging: SMTP services offer detailed tracking and logging features, providing insights into email delivery and performance metrics.
- Reduced Bounce Rates: SMTP services handle undeliverable emails through bounce handling mechanisms, helping maintain a clean email list.
- Reputation and Trust: Using a reputable SMTP service enhances your email reputation and reduces the chances of being marked as spam.
- Customization and Branding: SMTP services allow customization of email headers and branding, creating a consistent brand experience for recipients.
In summary, SMTP improves reliability, security, and deliverability, enabling effective communication with clients and customers.
Once your Maintenance plan has been activated, we will perform a comprehensive audit of your WordPress website and evaluate it’s performance.
There are many factors that can import the speed and performance of a WordPress website, so within our report will include suggestions on next steps to take. We will work with you to create a game-plan of changes to increase the speed and performance of your website and improve your Core Web Vitals and other performance metrics.
CDN Setup
A CDN (Content Delivery Network) is a network of distributed servers or nodes that are geographically dispersed and work together to efficiently deliver web content to your visitors. The main purpose of a CDN is to reduce latency and improve the overall performance of websites, applications, and other online services by caching and delivering content from the server closest to the user’s location.
We can help configure a CDN on your WordPress website using a number of suggested platforms, and make sure everything is performing at peak efficiency!
We can provide access to a number of Premium WordPress plugins as part of our Maintenance plan.
These include;
- WP Rocket Caching Plugin ($59/yr value)
- FlyingPress Caching Plugin ($60/yr value)
- Perfmatters Performance Plugin ($24.95/yr value)
- Imagify Image Optimization ($99.99/yr value)
- Gravity Forms Elite ($259/yr value)
Any of these plugins can be installed upon request, and the list is growing as we partner with further plugins.
