WP Tango Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Introduction

WP Tango is dedicated to maintaining a stable, secure, and high-performance hosting environment for all clients. This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines permitted and prohibited actions when using our infrastructure and services. Your use of WP Tango services constitutes acceptance of this policy. This AUP supplements our Terms of Service and is enforceable under that agreement.

Purpose

This policy aims to protect the integrity, reliability, and quality of service for all users by identifying unacceptable practices. The AUP also ensures compliance with applicable laws and encourages responsible resource use among clients.

Prohibited Activities

Users must not engage in any of the following activities while using WP Tango services:

  1. Illegal Activities: Hosting or promoting illegal content, services, or activities, including but not limited to hacking, phishing, drug trafficking, pirated software, or distribution of malware.
  2. Resource Abuse: Using disproportionate server resources (CPU, memory, disk I/O) in a way that impacts server stability or degrades performance for others. Examples include intensive cron jobs, poorly optimized code, or scripts causing excessive background processes.
  3. Spam and Mass Messaging: Sending unsolicited email campaigns, bulk marketing, or SMS/text spam. WP Tango prohibits the operation of any open mail relay or mailing list without confirmed opt-in mechanisms.
  4. Denial of Service (DoS): Participating in or initiating any DoS or DDoS activity, either directly or via third-party tools.
  5. Infringing Content: Distributing or hosting copyrighted materials, music, video, or other protected content without valid authorization. DMCA requests will be honored in accordance with U.S. law.
  6. Security Violations: Attempting to access systems, accounts, or data without authorization. Scanning, brute-force attempts, or port probing WP Tango or third-party infrastructure is strictly prohibited.
  7. Fraud, Phishing, and Deception: Creating or operating deceptive websites, fake storefronts, phishing campaigns, or impersonating legitimate businesses.
  8. Child Exploitation or Abuse: Hosting or linking to any content that involves the exploitation, abuse, or depiction of minors.
  9. Hate Speech and Violence: Promoting hate-based material or inciting violence toward individuals or groups based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality.

Content Guidelines

Users are responsible for any and all content stored or published on WP Tango’s platform. Content must adhere to these criteria:

  • Be lawful and not infringe upon any applicable law or regulation.
  • Be free of unlicensed copyrighted material unless it qualifies under fair use or explicit permission is granted.
  • Include appropriate content warnings where necessary, particularly for adult or sensitive material.
  • Not include hate speech, incitement of violence, or threats of harm to individuals or institutions.

Fair Use and Bandwidth Policy

WP Tango offers unmetered bandwidth to all hosting clients; however, usage must remain within reasonable limits typical of the client’s hosting plan tier. Fair use ensures equal resource availability for all customers. Examples of bandwidth abuse include:

  • Serving non-website-related files (e.g., personal file repositories or video distribution hubs)
  • Bypassing caching or forcing excessive dynamic generation of pages
  • Operating media streaming servers, P2P applications, or file-sharing platforms

Accounts exceeding reasonable use may be subject to bandwidth shaping, resource throttling, or upgrade requirements. WP Tango reserves the right to define what constitutes ‘excessive’ or ‘abusive’ based on overall system health and peer usage comparisons.

Monitoring and Enforcement

WP Tango continuously monitors system metrics to ensure service quality. If violations are suspected, actions may include but are not limited to:

  • Issuing a warning with a required remediation timeline
  • Suspending or limiting access to specific functionality or resources
  • Disabling network access or traffic temporarily
  • Terminating service contracts for repeated or egregious violations

Clients found in breach of the AUP will be given an opportunity to address issues unless security or service stability is at immediate risk. In emergency cases, WP Tango may act without prior notice.

Security Cooperation

WP Tango works with hosting and anti-abuse coalitions globally. In the event of malicious activity traced to a client environment, we may notify upstream providers, law enforcement, or domain registrars where legally compelled or ethically necessary.

Reporting Violations

Suspected AUP violations can be reported by emailing [email protected]. Reports must include the affected domain, type of abuse, and any relevant logs or screenshots. WP Tango does not tolerate retaliatory or false claims submitted in bad faith.

Policy Updates

This Acceptable Use Policy may be revised at any time. Updated policies will be posted on the WP Tango website and become effective immediately upon publication. Continued use of Services implies acceptance of the revised policy.

Conclusion

By using WP Tango’s Services, you agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy. Violations may result in immediate suspension, service downgrade, or account termination. WP Tango strives to maintain a secure and fair hosting environment and appreciates your cooperation in doing so.
